THIS week saw Temasek Holdings come through handsomely on a promise it made in 2003 to 'set aside funds for the wider community for every year that it delivers returns above its cost of capital'. A host of worthy causes can now look forward to a substantial new source of support, and all credit to the Singapore investment giant for making that happen. But let's hope that it doesn't stop here. The best thing that could come out of this philanthropic initiative would be to see a host of local enterprises inspired to do likewise."
