Almost three and half years later the main Act to those changes has still to be written, much less played out and we still can’t tell whether the outcome will be positive, or as some have schemed, harmful to fundraising lotteries."

Australians Increase Charitable Giving - Pro Bono Australia: "Charitable giving in Australia has grown significantly in the last 12 months, buoyed by reduced levels of consumer anxiety, according to new research by National Australia Bank.

The NAB’s bi-annual Charitable Giving Index showed overall giving to charity grew by 6.5 per cent over the year to February 2016, up from just 2.4 per cent a year earlier."

Foreign automakers stingy in charity, generous in dividends: "mong the foreign automakers, Mercedes-Benz Korea paid dividends of 58.5 billion won, Audi Volkswagen Korea disbursed 16 billion won, Porsche Korea recorded 6 billion won and Volvo Korea logged 3 billion won.

As for donations, Mercedes-Benz Korea spent around 2 billion won, BMW Korea paid 1.8 billion won, Hanbul Motors Corp donated 210 million won and Porsche Korea gave 150 million won.

Mercedes-Benz Korea’s donation amount is quite small compared to the dividends it paid to its two major shareholders Daimler AG and Hong Kong-based paper company Star Auto Holdings.

The company’s spokesperson told The Korea Herald it plans to expand local charity donations this year.

Tencent’s Pony Ma pledges more than $2bn to charity - FT.com: "The chairman of one of China’s largest internet companies is looking to join the ranks of the technology world’s big philanthropists Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates with a more than $2bn donation to charity.
Pony Ma, who is also founder and chief executive of Tencent Holdings, plans to cash in 100m company shares to make the donation to a new “personal charity fund” that is being set up, according to a spokesperson. Ma previously established a charity called the Tencent Foundation."

The middle classes use more charities than those on the lowest income, research has found.
Those earning over £55,000 are more likely to use a larger variety of charities than those with incomes of less than £14,000.
Higher income earners used four charities on average in the past year while those with lower incomes used less than three.
The research from the Charities Aid Foundation reveals how much we all depend on charities in our everyday lives."
