The Spectator.co.uk: "Or at least cough up for something. Rich List compilers Philip Beresford and Alistair McCall say there is ‘an unprecedented boom in giving’, with ‘more than £1.2 billion pledged or donated in the past year by the leading 30 philanthropists’, starting with a half-billion pledge by London-based Indian businessman Anil Agarwal to build a university in his native country. Meanwhile over in Mayfair’s Hedge Fund Alley, hands-on philanthropy is said to be the must-have lifestyle accessory for the elite of this hugely profitable sector. But across Britain as a whole, charitable giving has not shown anything like as spectacular a rise as upper-strata wealth generation."
