Sierra Leone has been on donor life support since 1980, and by all imagination is a donor driven economy. A whopping US$ 336.2 million was received in 2005 from donors, mainly multilateral partners, bilateral partners and UN Agencies. In recent times, development assistance is being mostly channeled through NGOs, who have now become the darling of the West, by virtue of their capacity to deliver more efficiently than the government."
