High profile campaigners from across the UK will stress the importance of accountability in campaigning at the first ever national campaigning conference, being held at the Barbican today by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations’ (NCVO) Campaigning Effectiveness Programme. As campaigns from ‘Make Poverty History’ to the Stop Smoking Coalition make the headlines, campaigners need to ensure that their methods are based on evidence and accountable in order to show that the changes they seek are legitimate and, where possible, based on their beneficiaries experience."
