Rajah previously told the Globe that he will always remember, how, as a child growing up in Sri Lanka, two missionaries from Canadian University College (CUC) in Lacombe helped his mother get an education. She became a teacher and this helped the Rajahs get out of poverty. The family later immigrated to Canada when Eric was 16 and he vowed that if he ever became successful he would help others."
