Nova Scotia News - TheChronicleHerald.ca: "Association president Mitch Gillingwater said Ms. Lucas will receive $2,500 for year one and $3,750 for each of her following three years while completing her bachelor of arts, with a major in psychology. The cash comes from a special student-run fundraising campaign, created to improve access to post-secondary education. 'It’s very unique — no other student union or student association across Canada has engaged in such a large fundraising campaign to create an opportunity bursary like this,' Mr. Gillingwater said Monday. The association even received honourable mention this June at the 2007 Maritime Philanthropy Awards and has been approached by the University of Lethbridge in Alberta for advice on how to start up a similar initiative."
