Calls for greater transparency, supervision in philanthropy | Charity | chinadaily.com.cn: "BEIJING - The nation's charity sector is suffering from teething problems, according to observers. There are 2,300 foundations in the country and more than two million nongovernmental organizations. However, 90 percent of them are grass-root organizations and many have not registered with the relevant government departments.
Chinese people from experts and officials to ordinary citizens are all calling for greater transparency of information about their operations."
