The Whig Standard - Ontario, CA: "Marieke Bergman can hardly believe what students at Rideau District High School have done.
'This school's incredible,' said Bergman, an outreach co-ordinator for Toronto-based charity Free the Children.
She was in Elgin Monday to receive a cheque for $9,900, money raised by the students in memory of a former classmate who died in a car accident.
In three years, the 450 students at the school have raised $30,300 to support the agency's work of building schools,
digging wells and sustaining skills-based career training for women and children in Kenya."
