TORONTO and CALGARY -- Canadians donated a record $8.6-billion to charities last year, but a slowing economy and some recent trends in giving could hurt many organizations this year.
Total donations increased 1.4 per cent from $8.5-billion in 2006, according to a report released yesterday by Statistics Canada."
