Op-Ed: Business is big enough: There's another important reason why private philanthropy should be considered as part of the solution. The tenor of our times, with public sector restraint now becoming the order of the day, combined with the ongoing re-evaluation of the role of the state in our lives, makes it exceedingly difficult for governments to fund such infrastructure or programs, especially on their own. The leadership and leverage provided by private support are now increasingly essential to making public dreams come true.
