nbbusinessjournal.com - Calgarian raising fun factor in fundraising as a career | David Parker - Breaking News, New Brunswick, Canada: "Gavin Young
Linna Morgan of Calgary Counselling Centre promotes giving back and is enticing young people to choose fundraising as a profession.

She says that Imagine Canada, a nationally registered charity with offices in Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary, lists 161,000 charities and non-profits. Charities are approved by Canada Revenue Agency to give tax receipts while non-profits cannot.

The sector employs two million full-time equivalent workers who are supported by some 12 million volunteers. There are more than 4,000 distinct non-profit organizations in the Calgary area (not including sporting organizations) with 1,900 having charitable status. Yet the Calgary chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has only approximately 350 members"
