ELEANOR HALL: One of the United States' philanthropic leaders says the global financial crisis has stripped $30-billion from the US charity sector.
Peter Hero ran Silicon Valley's billion dollar Community Foundation until 2007 and is now a fellow at the Centre for Social Innovation at Stanford University's Business School.
He says that as the economy collapses, charities are more important than ever."
