Curry for 10 yen (and a bit for charity, please) at historic restaurant : DY Weekend : Features : DAILY YOMIURI ONLINE (The Daily Yomiuri): "Matsumotoro, an old established restaurant cozily situated among the trees behind the central fountain in Hibiya Park in Tokyo, is a frequent venue for important meetings of politicians and cultural intellectuals. In May, for example, Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda hosted a national banquet there, welcoming Chinese President Hu Jintao.
The whitish, four-story restaurant is popular for authentic French dishes and other Western menu items, such as beef stew, which have been served to customers for more than 100 years.
On Thursday, Matsumotoro (www.matsumotoro.co.jp) will serve Haikara Beef Curry, one of its popular dishes, to 1,500 customers for just 10 yen each, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The day's proceeds go to charity, so customers may make a voluntary additional donation on top of the 10 yen if they wish."
