AFP: Singapore arts thriving in financial crisis: "Multi-million-dollar subsidies for the arts are intact, while museums and performance centres built or refurbished in recent years are now drawing growing numbers of local and foreign visitors.
'In some ways, the recession may redress the imbalance of expensive foreign to local and Asian works presented in many venues,' said Benson Puah, chief executive officer of the Esplanade, Singapore's main performing arts complex."
