Nonprofits in China » Rural Environmental NGOs come onto the stage
Nonprofits in China » Rural Environmental NGOs come onto the stage: "The China Environment Federation Secretariat announced that it will promote an environmental case in Jiang Yan, Jiangsu Province to the entire nation as a successful mode to address environmental issues.
In recent years, rural areas have witnessed rising environmental stress. Although the system of environmental law undergoes constant revision in China, some illegitimate enterprises have tried to hide in the relatively less informed and loosely controlled countryside. As a result, rural citizens have been sending spontaneous letter petitions to the authorities because of the rapidly deteriorating living environment."

Charity Village®NewsWeek: Cover Story: "Last week, CharityVillage spoke with, among others, the leaders of two of Canada's most influential foundation networks: Hilary Pearson, president of Philanthropic Foundations of Canada (PFC), and Monica Patten, CEO and president of Community Foundations of Canada (CFC).
While the members of these two umbrella organizations have been as hard hit as anyone else, their commentary isn't all doom and gloom.
Tracking the carnage, and the upswing
Speaking on behalf of her 97 private foundation members, Pearson said that while a lot of them were very jittery about the future of grantmaking at the outset of this year, much of that fear has since been replaced with sober second thought about the best ways to continue helping their grantees in light of their diminished financial returns. To get a fuller idea of how this has progressed, she provided the following chronology:"

FFWD - Calgary Music - Music Features - International singalong: "Speaking both figuratively and literally, Calgary and Kenya are pretty far apart. Not only do a great many kilometres of cold, unwelcoming ocean separate the Canadian Prairie city from the African country, but the two locales are also untold leagues apart culturally, socially, politically and economically. This is not news. What is, however, is that Kenya and Calgary will be moving ever so slightly closer together soon thanks to Musikiva Canada Inc., a Calgary-based non-governmental organization that will provide music therapy to at-risk youth in both areas."
